Bamboo is lucky?|The story of Bamboo
Bamboo is a symbol of good luck
In Japan, "pine, bamboo, and plum" are used as symbols of good luck.
As for bamboo, it is considered a symbol of procreation. This is because it grows quickly and has lush green leaves even in the cold winter months.
It also has the meaning of hope for the future, as it stretches straight up to the sky, flexing freely but not breaking easily.
Bamboo also blooms
Bamboo also blooms. However, they have a very long blooming cycle, with madake bamboo(真竹) blooming in a 60-year cycle and moso bamboo(孟宗竹) blooming in a 120-year cycle.
Some types of bamboo die entirely after flowering, and bamboo blossoms are sometimes said to be "omens of bad luck," but this is a natural phenomenon that occurs in cycles.
